Delivering God's Good News to Children

“Where, oh where have the first 5 months of 2008 gone?”  I am sure I am not the only person asking this question.  As you can see in the picture, Faith & Aaron are growing fast.  Aaron has no problems nursing and started eating some baby cereal on his 5-month birthday on May 16^th.  He weighs over 17 lbs.  He does a good job sleeping at night and usually only gets up 1 or 2 times to eat.  Faith (2 yrs. 8 mos.) continues enjoying her role as big sister, and PTL she is now potty trained!  She is learning new things all the time (thanks to Nicki) including counting to 10 and reciting the alphabet.  She has hit the “What’s that?” and “Why?” stage, so we are constantly answering her questions.  She also has been doing a good job sleeping through the night, except to get up to go to the bathroom (which is a good thing).  We all have been battling runny noses, coughs, sore throats, fevers, etc., so we continue to ask for your prayers for our health. 

Gospel 4 Kids (G4K) celebrated its 6^th Anniversary on April 2^nd.  THANK YOU to everyone who has faithfully prayed and/or given financially over the years!  We are thankful that G4K was recently added to our home church’s missionary budget which made up for lost regular support in 2008 and then some!  We are also thankful for the many Special Gifts that have been received this year from those who have done so in the past and those who are new!   In 2008, all of the ministry expenses along with our reimbursements (which include health insurance, mileage, home office, etc.) have been paid each month, but less than 40% of our budgeted salary has been paid.  However, it is amazing to see how the Lord has made up the difference in salary each month through our savings, personal gifts received, tax credits & rebates, etc.  We ask for your continued prayers as we need to raise more regular support and to know the best way for us to do our part in meeting our needs.

The Lord continues to help us through the “new season of our lives” that I have been writing about.  It has been a great 5 months of ministry so far in 2008!  Many Gospel Parties, Christian Preschool & Elementary chapels, Awana Counsel Times, open-air events, and something new – Gospel Game Day/Night events have allowed me to share the Gospel to hundreds of children with several indicating they prayed to receive Jesus as Savior (including some teens too)!  Children are inviting their unsaved friends to events and their friends are receiving Jesus as Savior!  Also, children are asking for extra Gospel bracelets & other Gospel literature so they can give them to their friends in their neighborhoods & schools!  PTL for how open children are to the Gospel and willing to share it with others!

I was able to conduct all the ministry events without Nicki being with me to help.  Even though I would have loved to have had her with me, the Lord provided other helpers at events when needed.  It is going to be interesting to see how everything works out this summer (the busiest time of year) without Nicki’s help each day.  When Aaron stops nursing at the end of this year and can be babysat with Faith, that will allow Nicki to start helping me again.

To help you better pray for G4K this summer, please find below the dates, times, locations, and Vacation Bible School (VBS) themes.  At the VBSs in June, I am the missionary/evangelist for the week and will have the opportunity each day to share with all the children the Gospel message and help with Christian growth using the daily Bible point.  The VBSs in July are those I will be conducting the whole program with some helpers from sponsoring churches.

June 16-20   8:45am-12:30pm   Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa   “Outrigger Island – Living God’s Unshakable Truth”

June 23-27  9am-12:15pm   Calvary Community Church in Phoenix   “Destination: Noah’s Ark – Discovering Who God Is Through His Promises” 

June 30-July 4   No VBS scheduled this week because of the holiday

July 7-11   OPEN to be the missionary/evangelist at your VBS OR conduct the whole VBS (please call to schedule)

July 14-18   9:00am-Noon   Dave & Nicki’s home in Surprise   “Avalanche Ranch – A Wild Ride Through God’s Word”

July 21-25   9:00am-Noon   Desert Streams Church Outreach Center in Surprise   “Avalanche Ranch”

Aug 4-8   9:00am-Noon   Living Streams Children’s Center Kids Camp in Phoenix   (I will be teaching the Bible verse each day)

Your prayers this summer will be greatly appreciated for safety in travel; gas prices to stop climbing (it takes over $100 to fill our van); clearly sharing the Gospel message; unsaved children to receive Jesus as Savior; and the saved children to grow spiritually.  Also, please pray for Nicki as she continues to take care of Faith & Aaron at home.
